My window unit A/C, for the computer room, quit cooling a couple days ago. Now have a 20" box fan in the window to blow the warm air around. Hope it fools the computer to thinking it is staying cool. 9:45am right now and the thermometer says it's 81 in here, about 10 degrees warmer than normal. We do have a couple more A/C units at the old place and going there later today to get them.
We are inside the "severe weather risk" for the next 2 days. At least that is what the Weather Channel is saying, not the locals. WC says 40% chance of tornados in the area. Just some strong winds according to the locals. Who do you believe?
It appears the birds are missing the tree we cut down. They use to play and sit in it before making use of our bird bath that was under it. Haven't seen many birds since we cut the tree down. Hope they get use to it being gone, and come back.

oy not a good week for a/c.....our tech came out at about 11am, checked it out and the fan rotated just fine, so he checked some other things and changed out a capacitor and put it back together---let it run for a bit and then the fan started making noise, not a good noise either, so he said we would need a new one (and he, after checking, didnt have one on his truck)....and seeing as the condo was already at 86 he said he would run to their warehouse and get one for us (80 miles away ), hubby didnt think he would do it, but low and behold a few hours later (and a degree or two hotter), he calls me up and he is just about done putting the new motor in....
so now I sit under the a/c trying to cool off (we hit 89 before it came back on), a bit poorer for the experience and remembering why I really didnt like summers in japan (this would have been a COOL day there).
I plan on a cold shower (or two) and a nice long nap (didnt sleep well last night).
glad we didnt need to get a new one (yet---its still quite old and probably will need to in a few years!)
no rain here, only nice cool winds (yes its cooler outside than in my condo).

Glad your a/c is fixed. I'm also glad the a/c wherever I was yesterday. Spent a good portion of the day at my parents house for my nephews birthday. Past 2 days we haven't been home much so today will be laundry and relaxing. Thank goodness!
Had some storms go through last night apparently. Wife said they came through but I didn't hear them. Guess I slept right through them. Of course I was exhausted, so I guess that is why.

It is humid here today. Last I checked it was 86 out, feels like 96. Yikes. Might go over to the pool this afternoon to get some sun.
Had storms go through this morning. More to come at the end of the day as well too. Some could be severe. Hope not though.

but it did cool waaaay down when the storms moved thru...really nice to have a cool breeze (even if it had a high wind warning with it).

Got 1/2" rain in 30 minutes tonight, tornado warning just 20 miles SE as crow flies.
Much cooler now though. Temp dropped 10 degrees as storm passed by. Better sleep tonight.

Temp dropped like a rock here as well last night. Lots of rain and wind but I think the most severe stuff went north and south of us. So we got lucky. Thank goodness for that.

Yesterday was nice. Today it is not even supposed to reach 70! July 2nd and it is not going to be above 70. That is nuts! But I'm not complaining.

me either....though with only a 20% chance of rain--we had a few good downpours today (with nothing even showing on the radar either ).
not supposed to rain at all for the 4th so might get to see the fireworks then (our town has a festival this week--so usually have fireworks everynight--but none last night most probably due to that rain that wasnt showing on the radar)

We got a few drizzles here and there but nothing that amounted to anything.
Going to see fireworks tonight. My dad directs a local band and they always play on July 3rd and then have fireworks that follow. (They play on Sundays and Wednesdays all year long) So we are going with my grandma tonight to go hear the band then watch some fireworks. We will be going to my folks tomorrow to just hang out and stuff.
With all the storms blowing through you would think at some point we would lose power. Nope. Not once. Lights didn't even flicker! But last night. 4am. Calm as can be out. About 60 degrees outside. Bam. Power goes out. For 2 and half hours. Seriously? How? Why? It was really weird... But at least it wasn't super hot and humid out so we didn't have to worry about dying of heat.

lol, yuep, thats usually how it happens with ours as well....only flickering lights at most during the worst of storms and then on a nice (not hot or cold) day (not many clouds, not much wind)...BAM! the power goes out ---- and you sit in the dark wondering who fell asleep doing maintenance on your switch or whatever since it wasnt weather related.
and yeah, the good part is its usually a nice day so having the doors open is ok. (being able to get all the computers shut down before the ups goes out is the hard part).

We were definitely glad it was a nice cool night. Otherwise we would have been way to warm to sleep. And it was night/early morning so we didn't have much of a need for power besides the fans. So there was that. Saw the Ameren guys out working near our apartment complex on my run. Didn't stop to ask what happened and figured it would be on a website, but no such luck. Should of stopped and asked.

that is NOT good azzer--you should see someone about that (I had a headache for about 4 days back in grade school--found out I had encephalitis...not a good thing to have as people have died from it).
you may have our rain, for the month we had more than 2 1/2x the normal amount, I think we are working on one of those record breaking years for precipitation. (though I think the folks out in california really want it--we will ship it to them for a price!)

Agreed, go see a doc azzer! And get better!
We have gotten a ton. I think we broke a record for the amount of rainfall we got in June, just don't remember what record...

got to see the fireworks last night...think they had extras from the 1st day of the festival (it rained even though it wasnt supposed to and it wasnt showing up on radar), great night to see them.
making steak and potatoes for dinner.

Had a great time with the boys and their families yesterday. Lots of good food, loads of fireworks, and cool temps to enjoy it all.
Woke up to cloudy skies and thunder. Didn't realize there was rain in the forecast. Hope the niece's day long celebration doesn't get rained out.
I pwnd U - How big is Ameren? (Retorical) They supply our electricity also.

I was glad we didn't got to any fireworks last night. Would have been way to crowded. It was crowded on the 3rd, but not as bad as it is on the 4th. When we were on our way home we went over the river and there was just TONS of boats out waiting to see the fireworks. Looked pretty neat.
It used to be CILCO until Ameren bought them out. Which is too bad... I liked CILCO better. (Or at least my parents did since I wasn't old enough to pay bills yet)
